Biography:
Bob Barlow, a Wyoming native, is the
son of a pioneer ranching family. He was given oil paints as a child,
and did a lot of copying of work by Charles Russell and Will James.
After graduating from high school, he attended the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago. He also got a degree in business at the University
of Wyoming in Laramie and then joined the Army where he was stationed in
Maryland and spent a lot of time in museums and painting in his spare
hours.
Although
his home and studio are in Billings, Montana, his love of outdoor
painting takes him to many parts of the world. His most recent travels
abroad have included, Prague, Czech Republic where he has spent several
months each year since 1991. Other favorite painting places include East
Africa, Russia, the canyons of the Southwest and the Canadian Rockies.
The landscapes of Wyoming and Montana continue to inspire Barlow’s
work most of all.
