Greg Scheibel
Greg Scheibel has always felt a strong connection to the outdoors. Throughout his life he has spent a great deal of time hiking, fishing, backpacking, and closely observing his surroundings, which has led to a deep appreciation for the remote locations and unspoiled beauty of the West, the main inspiration for his paintings. Greg paints on location as much as possible, trying to capture an honest record of the values, color, and feel of an area. The emotional connection to nature, which is the result of these field studies, is the foundation for all of his work. Scheibel was a drywall contractor for many years, always with a dream of someday taking his passion for art to the next level. Years of drawing, pouring over art books, collecting, and studying paintings of artists he admired, and a general accumulation of life’s experiences contribute to what he puts into his paintings today. With a strong work ethic, continual study, and a genuine passion for expanding his abilities as an artist, he is truly excited about his career as a painter and quite humbled that many collectors and industry leaders believe him to be the best emerging landscape painter in the Rocky Mountains. Although still relatively new to the professional art world, becoming a full-time artist in 2007, Scheibel’s work is represented by several of the West’s finest galleries and has been invited or juried into a number of prestigious exhibitions. Scheibel has received several awards for his work and scholarships from the Scottsdale Artist School. He has received an Award of Excellence from the Oil Painters of America on three separate occasions, and was recently awarded signature membership in that organization. He has been listed as an ‘Artist to Watch’ in Southwest Art magazine, and has been featured in Western Art Collector magazine. Greg lives in Montana with his wife and two children.
