Robert Peters' career as a professional artist has spanned more than 25 years. Robert Peters' career as a professional artist has spanned more than 25 years. He is presently a regular contributor to prestigious museum exhibitions such as the Prix de West, the Autry Masters of the American West, and the Eiteljorg Museum's Quest for the West. Robert's paintings are widely collected and he has presented numerous solo shows at several notable galleries. As a former award winning freelance illustrator represented in New York City and a member of the Society of Illustrators, his paintings were on the covers of national publications such as US News and World Report.

"The Western landscape is an endless source of inspiration to me," Robert says. "I draw strictly from my own observations. That imparts an authentic and natural quality to my paintings. If something is in one of my paintings, I've been there and I've experienced it".

That experience has included living across the greater Southwest. In the early 1990s, the Peters family left Arizona for Durango, Colorado. Peters continued his painting while he and his wife, Nanette, raised and competitively showed horses. Peters has now returned home to Arizona, to the high country outside of Prescott, with his wife and children, and their horses and dogs.

He exhibits annually at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, The Autry National Center in Los Angeles, the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona.

Publications that have featured Robert's landscape paintings are Southwest Art, Cowboys and Indians, Western Art Collector, Art of the West, Equine Image, Persimmon Hill, Western Horseman, and Wildlife Art. The US State Department has selected several of his paintings for their 'Art in the Embassies' exhibitions.
